Creating an inviting place to work

CLIENT: COMMUNITY VENTURES   |   TYPE OF WORK: REFURBISHMENT   |   DATE: 2023   |   SECTOR: COMMERCIAL

Community Ventures are an expert estates consultancy firm, specialising in supporting health and social care organisations with their estates strategy. With a growing team, they needed more space and better facilities at their offices in Leeds and Stockton-on-Tees. They asked I&G to revamp their two offices, bringing their company’s values to life through their workplaces.

The solution

Community Ventures not only wanted their offices to be practical and inviting places to work, but they also wanted the look and feel of the offices to embody their brand values.

I&G worked with Community Ventures to understand their vision for their offices, with the construction team and graphic design specialists working together to plan out how the space would work and flow.

The challenges

The project involved the full strip out and demolition of specific areas throughout the buildings, plus internal and external improvements and refurbishment.

Works included:

  • Full design work, including how the spaces would work and flow, new facilities such as pods for remote calls, consideration of materials, and promotion of brand opportunities on feature walls.
  • Strip out of previous tenant’s fixtures and fittings.
  • Removal of services, including strip out of mechanical and electrical appliances.
  • Full internal refurbishment, including new carpets, doors and windows
  • Redecoration, including feature wall graphics.
  • Strip out of toilets and installation of new facilities, including cubicles, partitions, basins, taps etc.
  • Installation of a brand new air conditioning system.
  • Replacement of existing lights with LEDs.
  • Strip out of existing kitchen, floor coverings and furniture, and installation of new kitchen.
  • Installation of stud and glazed partitions to form new rooms.
  • New suspended ceiling.
  • New welcome area for office space.
  • Electrical works, including installation of lighting, heaters and driers.

The result

The offices have now been completely transformed, creating two offices which are attracting staff to work in the building more often. Features have been enhanced to allow for new ways of working, with privacy pods where staff can make phone calls or video conferences, attractive meeting rooms, and a comfortable area for clients and visitors to wait.

Materials, colours and vinyls used in the office were carefully chosen to not only make sure the space conveys the company’s brand values, but also to have better performance. For example, natural materials were chosen to help with sustainability, but these also had good acoustic properties, enhancing the feel of the office.

The refurbishment looks amazing. It’s been a great boost to the team to be able to work in such bright, comfortable surroundings, and the wall graphics remind everyone of the values we try and embody every day – improving life in the communities we serve through being inclusive, socially conscious, creative, and working with integrity. Thanks so much to the team at I&G who have given us such a beautiful environment to work in – we love it!
