De-Steaming of Maternity Unit Commences

I&G undertake the Bradford Royal Infirmary De-Steaming of Maternity Unit on the 10th of May 2010. The works consist of the demolition of the existing waste store building and the construction of a new boiler house facility (gross floor area approximately 67m2) complete with associated extension, alteration, drainage and external works.

Mechanical and electrical services installations comprise of:

  • Removal of existing steam and condensate pipework from various plantrooms and ducts serving the Maternity Unit, Theatres, Supply Stores, Neo-Natal Unit and Field House
  • Installation, testing and commissioning of 4 nr new boilers to serve Maternity and Field House and all associated equipment
  • Replacement of existing steam AHU units with new MTHW coils
  • Installation of new MTHW pipework
  • Installation of new PHE's
  • Installation of new trace heating and leak detection system
  • BMS Controls associated with above
  • Alteration, extension and installation of electrical engineering services associated with the above including lighting, small power, fire alarm, lighting protection, telecommunications and data services

The scheme is to be undertaken within a live hospital environment with completion in October 2010.
