Prior to the refurbishment works commencing upon this scheme a full asbestos strip out was incorporated. The project was split into 3 phases as the other phased areas were live as the client required the areas during the refurbishment process, therefore corridors had to be sectioned off with hoarding all in accordance with infection control procedures.

The works comprised of:

• The full internal refurbishment of the cafeteria incorporating a new kitchen and all associated appliances.
• Refurbishment of the;
• Waiting Room, Toilet Facilities, Sluice Room, Soundproof Trauma Room, Store Rooms, Consultation Rooms & Corridors
• Full joinery package incorporating a new curved reception counter, desks, doors, skirting and architraves
• Redecoration, flooring and suspended ceilings.
• Mechanical and electrical provisions incorporated a full re-wire, a roof mounted spirax heating and cooling plant (with new external gantry access), full intercom system, adaptation of the fire alarm system and an air handling plant unit
• Externally new aluminium windows and doors were fitted within the plant room courtyard along with the formation of a new concrete base for the location of the air handling plant unit, and a concrete ramp for fire and disabled access requirements

Deliveries to site were limited to scheduled times due to the location of the site being directly next too the A&E Department which was a very sensitive access and egress area.
