Scope of works
The project involved the refurbishment of an ultrasound suite to offer a revised floor plan incorporating the demolition, asbestos removal and remodelling to provide seven ultrasound rooms, offices, staff changing room, showers, reception, waiting room, children's play area, staff and public toilets, consultation rooms and a uniform store.
The refurbishment incorporated:
- Dismantling and relocation of an auto-valet machine and provision of new lockers
- New reception counter (a bespoke design manufactured by I&G Be-spoke Joinery Division
- Curved glass block wall within the reception area
- New doors were fitted with ash frames, architrave and dado rails protected by stainless steel bars.
- Wall cladding was fitted to the corridor walls and doors to protect from trolley impact
- New vinyl flooring and carpet installed throughout
- New aluminium windows were installed throughout
- Suspended ceilings were installed with anti bacterial tiles
- Fire blankets were installed to services within the ceiling void
A full mechanical and electrical installation was carried out over three phases to enable the ongoing use of live areas by the staff and patients.
I&G utilised a specialist stick and zip hoarding system to segregate the areas under construction to ensure full site security and the prevention of dust spread around the hospital.
