Scope of works

The contract was undertaken over 2 phases; a new build Pre-Prep Building and the Enveloping of the existing Duplex Building. The Pre-Prep Building incorporated the construction of a new classroom block of 915m2, comprising deep strip foundations; cavity construction external walls with natural stone facings, western red cedar applied panels and full internal refurbishment with associated engineering services.

The Duplex Building incorporated the enveloping to 690m2 of the existing portakabin buildings; comprising structural steel frame, proprietary metal stud wall system, external walls with natural stone facings and applied western red cedar panels, pitched roof construction to entrance; properietary Kingspan mulitbeam purlin roof with metal deck and sarnail single ply coverings to main roof areas, internal alterations together with associated engineering services. 

The new facilities were opened with a cookery demonstration by Yorkshire's very own Celebrity TV Chef Brian Turner CBE and special guest the Mayor of Kirklees.
