Scope of works

The project comprised of the refurbishment, alterations and extensions to the existing Church buildings, incorporating;

  • Alterations to internal wall layouts, door positions and the like to form new and altered toilet facilities
  • A new kitchen, meeting room and vestry
  • Redecoration throughout the ground floor of the building 
  • New electrical and heating installations
  • Strip out and removal of the exisiting boiler house and oil tanks
  • Toilet block extension constructed via traditional strip footings, cavity walls, timber roof structure, flat roof coverings, suspended beam and block floor, blockwork internal walls, drainage connections and standard finishing’s, fittings and plumbing installations
  • External steps formed into the courtyard area.
  • New front extension to form a new entrance lobby was constructed with traditional strip footings, cavity walls, timber and structural steelwork roof structure, flat roof coverings, glazed entrance doors and screens and standard finishing’s and fittings.
  • Externally new drainage connections were provided with a new tarmac surfacing, along with a new footpath and access ramp. The existing opening in the boundary wall to Westgate was repositioned to form a new pedestrian access to the front entrance. 

The alteration works to the existing toilet areas involved quite extensive structural works including new foundations and structural steelwork to support the existing structures. The Church Buildings were redecorated externally and the existing flat roof to the side of the building was stripped off and renewed. A new access ramp was formed to the rear entrance.
